Sketches
I always start with a pencil.
Most of my designs start on a blank piece of paper, not on a screen. I like drawing by hand because it is fast and easy to fix. If a shape is wrong, I can erase it or draw over it, and nobody sees my mistakes.
I usually sketch the outside of a house first, then the floor plans that make it work. Most of my sketches get scrapped, because they are mostly for fun and something I do to practice my skills in my free time.
Sketching is the part I enjoy most because I don't have to focus too much on the mechanics of the build and just get to draw out a design I think would be cool to illustrate.
What I sketch
- House ideas and front views
- Floor plans with room sizes
- Quick drafts, not final drawings

A second pass at the front, with the porch and a row of bushes.
