REF. 03 / Residential

Cliffside Mansion

My idea

A big family house that faces the ocean. The ground floor is for living and guests, and the second floor is for sleeping and quiet.

Materials I used

Floor plan software. Wood floors in the living rooms and bedrooms, tile in the kitchen and bathrooms, speckled concrete in the halls and garage, and glass walls facing the water.

About this project

This is the biggest project here and it took the most drafts. I designed both floors at the same time so the stairs and the elevator line up in the same spot.

The ground floor has a 520 square foot garage, a large entry hall, a kitchen with a pantry and an office. The living and dining room is almost 1,950 square feet and wraps around the stair lobby in the middle. I pushed it toward the water and added a 588 square foot terrace along the front.

The second floor is more private. The main bedroom is about 640 square feet and has its own closet and bathroom. Small halls in front of the doors mean you don't walk out of bed into the next room. Two more bedrooms, a bathroom and a lounge sit around a center hall. The top terrace is over 1,100 square feet.

The hardest part was making the second floor fit on top of the first. I moved the elevator twice. I'm glad the two plans finally line up.
